What is letterbird?

Letterbird is an online platform for correspondence that enables users to write and receive digital letters.

What is letterbird ID?

Your Letterbird ID is a six-digit code that is randomly created when you become a member of Letterbird. This code gives you the ability to communicate with other members in an anonymous manner. This ID allows you to be stay as anonymous as possible.

How do I meet a new friend?

You can search for new people to correspond with using the match option. According to the preferences you’ve chosen, we do our best to find the best options. You may also share your letterbird ID on your social media accounts in order to invite your friends to sign up to letterbird. Your friends can write you anonymous letters using letterbird.me/YOURID even if they don’t have a letterbird account themselves.

What do those marks on the envelopes mean?

Heart: Indicates that you have favorited your letter.
Reply: Indicates that you have replied to your letter.
Random: Indicates that the letter was sent using the match option.
Checkmark: The letter is sent with a read notification, and the blue color indicates that the letter has been read.

I sent a wrong letter. Can I delete it?

The letters that were sent are now located in the sent box, and they cannot be retrieved. Your letter will still be viewed by the recipient even if you delete it from the sent box after it has been sent.

When will my penpal receive my letter?

When we deliver your letter, we take a number of factors into consideration. In the future, we will revise these criteria, and the delivery of your letters will be determined by a greater number of aspects and factors.

My friend's account is deactivated. Why?

It’s possible that your friend has taken a break for writing experience for a while; in this case, you could try sending letters at regular intervals and see whether your friend comes back to letterbird.

When will I receive push notifications?

You will be notified in two different ways: the first time a letter is being packaged to be delivered, and the second time your letter is being delivered to you. When you select the option to receive a read notification for each of your outgoing letters, you will also be notified when those letters are read.

I received a notification but I couldn't find the letter.

If you have been notified that you have a letter but cannot find it in your box, the letter may be on its way to being delivered to you. Check your postbox regularly, please. This means in a little while, we will deliver your letter.

Account details

How can I change my birthday?

Within the options menu is where you’ll find the option to update your birth date. Your date of birth is kept private and is not shared to other users, but other users are able to make guesses about your year of birth based on the options to them in their match preferences.

Can other users get my current location?

The information about the country that you choose while registering is visible to the other users. Your other information related to location is completely private.

Are the letters encrypted?

Each and every letter is encrypted before being saved on the servers.

Are you going to sell my data?

We will never sell your information to a third party, but we will use it to make our app better and to provide you with more targeted advertisements and offers.

Will I lose my letters if I reinstall the app?

Deleting or reinstalling the app will not delete your data unless you delete your account. When you delete your account, the data of your account is deleted on our servers in accordance with legal requirements and you cannot use letterbird again with the phone number and e-mail address you shared with us while you are signing up.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can follow the AppStore and GooglePlay guidelines for subscription cancellations.

I received the one time password but cannot sign in.

When you sign in to your letterbird account, a one-time password will be sent to the phone number or email address that you provided while you sign up to letterbird. You will be able to access your account if you have access to any of these. In case you are still unable to access your account, you may get in touch with our team by sending an email or by using our various social media accounts.

How do I delete my account?

You may remove your account by going to the settings menu and selecting the Faq page. When you delete your account, the data of your account is deleted on our servers in accordance with legal requirements and you cannot use letterbird again with the phone number and e-mail address you shared with us while you are signing up.

Which informations are shared with the other user?

Data such as your ID, the languages you speak, your gender, your country, and your interests are the kind of information that are published on your profile and can be viewed by other members and users. Although your age is kept private, other members’ preferences about matching might provide an indication of your age. The information that you provide in your biography will be accessible to the public. Any other information that is not specifically included here will in no way be shared to the other members.

Do others see my e-mail address or phone number?

Your e-mail address and phone number will not be shared in any way with other users.

How can I update my e-mail address?

You are unable to change the email address which you registered with because this is a security measure. You can get in touch with our support team if you’re having any issues with the email address that you provided.

How my profile looks like to other?

I am receiving too many letters.

If you have a letter friend and still receiving  so many letters that you are unable to respond to them, you have the option to keep your account and turn off  from “match me” feature, which is located in the Settings menu. Keep in mind that unanswered letters might be quite upsetting.

What is anonymous letters?

Anonymous letters is a service that allows your loved ones or friends to write you letters without having them to sign up for letterbird. Post your letterbird ID in the format letterbird.me/YOURID so that you can receive anonymous letters. Because of anonymous letters does not include any identifying information, you are unable to respond to these letters. You may disable this feature in the Settings menu if you do not wish to receive anonymous letters.

How can I increase my letter limits?

You have the option of either becoming a premium member, which will raise your daily letter limit, or purchasing coins, which will provide you more sending options once you have reached the limit.

How I block and report a user?

We are making efforts to ensure that Letterbird is a friendly place for all of our users. If there is a member or letter that you believe violates our policies, you may forward this letter to our team by clicking the three dots in the upper right corner of the paper. We will review your request and take the appropriate actions in reaction to it.

Letterbird store

What is letterbird store?

You may send gifts and letters to your letter friends and loved ones as well as buy things for yourself at the Letterbird store.

What is accept real letters and gifts?

You are required to have entered your complete address in order to make use of this specific option. Your letter friend can send you letters or gifts through the letterbird store by using your ID, even if they do not know your address.
